Education Section Strategic 2010 Strategic Planning

Brand:
Every PT and PTA is an Educator

Mission Statement:
“To inspire all PTs and PTAs in their roles as educators and to enhance the development and implementation of evidence based educational practices”

Goals

Standards of Practice

  • Provide support for the PT and PTA educator role by disseminating accessible resources on evidence based teaching and learning principles, methods and strategies  

 Research

  • Promote scholarly activities and access to new knowledge that facilitates evidenced based educational practices

Education

  • Increase professional development opportunities to enhance the various educator roles in physical therapy practice. (Educators in the following realms: patient/community, continuing professional development, academic, clinical instructor) 

The Education Section completed a strategic planning session resulting in the above brand, mission statement and goals.  The next step is to form workgroups to develop the strategies and tactics to implement the goals and fulfill the section’s mission.  If you are a section member interesting in helping in any of the work groups please contact the section’s office for more information.  800/999-2782 ext. 8506 or educationsection@apta.org

Update PT and PTA Medicare Student Supervision Chart
As a follow up to an earlier message about student supervision and Medicare, an updated Medicare Student Supervision Chart has been posted on the APTA Website under Advocacy that now specifically includes recommended documentation guidance for students working with patients with Medicare as well as the specific language provided by Medicare for Part-B about the “qualified practitioner” and PTAs as clinical instructors.
