All New! SIG Newsletter Spring 2008

posted May-04-2008

What’s New for 2008? Through the collaborative efforts of the APTA Education Section, Special Interest Group (SIG) Leadership, Promotion Representative-at-Large, and Executive Officer, we are delighted to share the launch of the SIG E-Newsletter. The SIG E-News is designed to readily share the activities, events, announcement and special interest stories of our four active SIGs. SIG E-News serves to promote the Education Section SIG functions and keep-in-touch in between our formal educational conferences and networking. If you have items to share, please provide to your respective SIG Chairs for future E-Newsletters. Remember, as Education Section members, SIG membership is of no charge to you and you may sign-up at any time.

Education Section's position statement regarding the ranking of physical therapist education programs

posted Nov-19-2007

Applicants should be aware that all physical therapist professional education programs in the US are subject to accreditation “standards that assure quality and continuous improvement in the entry-level preparation of physical therapists, and reflect the evolving nature of education, research, and practice.”  While the Education Section of APTA recognizes that there are proprietary organizations that rank physical therapist education programs, the profession encourages prospective students to provide their own comparisons through careful examination of information on program and APTA websites, and visits to the campuses to talk with enrolled students and program faculty.
