Item/Job/Service Description

The Department of Biology at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position. Teaching load is 12 credits per semester (24 credits/year) and will include upper-level courses in human anatomy and introductory biology, especially as they support degree requirements in nursing as well as the Clinical Laboratory Science major, Medical Laboratory Scientists program, and for pre-professional programs in health such as pre-medical, pre-physician assistant, and pre-pharmacy. There is also the possibility of teaching other courses based upon area(s) of interest, specialization, and department needs, including team-teaching gross dissection at an entry-level for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program (under a separate, summer contract). Additional responsibilities include the development of a productive research program involving undergraduates, student advising, and department, school, college, and university-level service. The Department consists of 22 tenure-track faculty and staff housed in the Trainer Natural Resources Building, the new, state-of-the-art Chemistry Biology Building, and at two branch campuses (UWSP Marshfield and UWSP Wausau). Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ph.D. in Biology, or M.D., D.D.S., D.V.M., D.Sc., Ed.D., dual degrees, or international equivalent degrees in biology or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered, but in all cases the candidate chosen for the position must have completed all requirements for the doctorate by the beginning of the academic year following the initial employment year, for consideration for retention and tenure.
• Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to high-quality undergraduate education.
• Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to involving undergraduate students in research.
• Experience with and/or demonstrated ability to teach lecture-lab courses in human anatomy.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience with and/or demonstrated ability to teach introductory biology, human physiology, cell biology, and/or molecular biology.
• Experience with and/or demonstrated ability to work with human donor (cadaveric) specimens and appropriate maintenance of donated human remains.
• Experience maintaining and curating anatomical collections of X-rays and models.
• Experience teaching cadaveric-based gross dissection labs
