Physical Therapy Director of Admissions
Augustana University seeks applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor to serve as the Director of Admissions for, and teach in, the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. Our accelerated two-year DPT program is a dynamic blend of online and on-campus activities, allowing faculty members to reside remotely from Augustana University. However, DPT faculty members must be able to travel and stay in Sioux Falls, SD, or the greater Minneapolis, MN area for designated periods each trimester. Successful candidates will have clinical experience within at least one of the following practice areas: Cardiopulmonary, Pain Management, Acute Care Physical Therapy, Anatomy, Physiology and Therapeutic Interventions.
Candidates with teaching experience, higher education leadership, established research and scholarship agendas, records of community service, and a spirit of innovation to explore new teaching strategies in hybrid learning are preferred. The position commences as soon as June 1, 2025.
Optimal candidates should understand higher education and contemporary physical therapy practice; legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy; and activity in professional activities at local, state, and national levels. In addition, excellent communication and strong computer skills are required to meet the needs of the admissions process and our hybrid instructional format.
At a minimum, individuals must possess a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (or tDPT), with American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) or certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities. Candidates with completed or significant progress toward a terminal academic doctorate degree in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities (Ph.D., EdD, DSc, etc.) are preferred. Positions are non-tenure track with salary and rank commensurate with qualifications. The candidates must possess an active physical therapy license in their home state and be eligible for licensure in the states of South Dakota and Minnesota.
Director Responsibilities:
Responsible for all student recruitment, application, and admissions processes for the program in collaboration with Evidence in Motion (EIM) support.
Oversees and recommends updates to recruitment materials and admissions policies and procedures.
Serves as Chair of Admissions Committee, which is responsible for all matters concerning student admission to the PT Program including recruitment, application, selection and matriculation. This committee is responsible for overseeing faculty involvement in a transparent admissions process that guarantees nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all applicants.
