Professional Bio
Dr. Amy Rich, PT, DPT, NCS, is the Associate Director and an Associate Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. She supports curriculum development, student success, and outcomes assessment while helping shape a learning environment that prepares students for real-world practice.
A board-certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist with extensive acute and intensive care unit experience, Dr. Rich brings an authentic clinical perspective into the classroom. Her teaching emphasizes evidence-based practice, interprofessional collaboration, and patient-centered decision-making, often using real clinical stories to connect coursework to patient care.
As the Simulation Laboratory liaison for the School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences, Dr. Rich helps design innovative simulation-based learning experiences with standardized patients across clinical settings, allowing students to build confidence and clinical reasoning before entering the clinic.
Dr. Rich also serves nationally with the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy as an NPTE item writer and task force leader, ensuring her teaching aligns with professional standards and licensure expectations. Her scholarly interests include student outcomes assessment, simulation-based education, interprofessional practice, and acute care physical therapy.
