Professional Bio

Dr. Chad Schmeeckle is a clinician, educator, mentor, and researcher specializing in postoperative sports rehabilitation. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (Austin, TX) and brings more than 10 years of clinical experience in high-performance outpatient sports settings. His clinical practice has included treating athletes from high school through Olympic levels, with experience at the University of Kentucky Sports Rehabilitation and the Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation at The STAR in Frisco, Texas.
Dr. Schmeeckle has contributed to elite sports medicine environments, including service with the medical team at the 2021 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, and remains engaged in volunteer support for Olympic-level events. His professional focus includes developing evidence-informed return-to-sport protocols for upper- and lower-extremity conditions.
He is a board-certified sports physical therapist through the American Physical Therapy Association (since 2018) and holds certifications in dry needling and blood flow restriction training. His educational leadership experience includes serving as Director of Clinical Education in a Physical Therapist Assistant program, mentoring sports residents, functioning as a credentialed clinical instructor, and serving as Vice-Chair of the USAHS DPT Curriculum Planning and Assessment Council.
Dr. Schmeeckle is an Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (Dallas, TX), contributing to the musculoskeletal and clinical reasoning curriculum. He is pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Practice and Leadership in Higher Education. His research interests include ACL return-to-sport testing, first responder health, Master Adaptive Learner characteristics, clinical reasoning development, and curriculum assessment.
