Professional Bio
Robert Wellmon, PT, DPT, PhD is Professor Emeritus in the Institute for Physical Therapy Education and is board certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in Neurology (NCS). He is also a Distinguished Scholar and Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (FNAP). He had been a full-time faculty member at Widener University since 1997 and was the recipient of the 2009 Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching, an honor bestowed annually to a member of Widener’s faculty. His teaching responsibilities in the entry-level professional program included coursework in multisystem physical examination skills, rehabilitation interventions, evidence-based practice, and an advanced elective in neurorehabilitation.
Dr. Wellmon’s professional interests and areas of research involve the examination of factors affecting functional task performance in older adults and patients recovering from stroke and traumatic brain injury, exploring the psychometric properties of outcome measures used in clinical physical therapy practice, and interprofessional education and collaboration.
