Professional Bio

Dr. Muñecas graduated with a Master of Physical Therapy degree from Florida International University (FIU) in 2002. Upon graduation, she worked in physical therapy clinical practice within the public school system, in the private sector, and provided services to both pediatric and geriatric patients in the home health clinical settings. In her pursuit of clinical and professional advancement, in 2008, she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. In May of 2022, she graduated with a Doctor of Education in Health Professions degree.
Dr. Muñecas implements innovative approaches in the classroom, within clinical education, and in the development of innovative research. Dr. Munecas serves as Assistant Chair and Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at FIU.
Dr. Muñecas’ research has focused on physical therapy education and pediatrics. Her research includes innovative 3D printing of adaptive devices and establishing rehabilitation protocols for them and research to support student success. She has presented her research in various national, regional, and local conferences. She has served in various leadership positions within the Florida Consortium for Clinical Education, FPTA, and FPTA Southeast District Council. Her dedication to clinical education is evident in her support and advocacy of students, clinical instructors, site coordinators of clinical education, and academic faculty.
