About the Program

The Physical Therapy  Faculty Development Workshop (PTFDW) is a faculty development initiative of the American Physical Therapy Association - Academy of Education designed to support early-career and transitioning physical therapy educators.

Event: July 30 to August 1, 2026 | Chicago, IL | In-Person
Expected Attendance: 85 faculty facilitators and participants

The workshop strengthens core competencies in:

• Teaching and instructional design
• Learner assessment and feedback
• Curriculum implementation
• Academic leadership readiness

Participants represent DPT and PTA programs across the country and include:

• New faculty members (i.e., those with 0 - 5 years of faculty experience)
• Directors of Clinical Education
• Aspiring faculty with some teaching (e.g., guest speakers or adjuncts) who aim to seek a core faculty position 
• Early academic leaders
