The College of Health Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) invites applications for a core faculty position in our Department of Physical Therapy at the UAMS Northwest Campus in Fayetteville, Arkansas. You have the opportunity to join an innovative and successful program with strong institutional and community support, excellent facilities, and a small class size. This is a 9-month position at the assistant or associate professor rank, beginning preferably in Fall 2026. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and college promotion and tenure criteria.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (post-professional or DPT with advanced clinical specialization)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a licensed physical therapist
  • Teaching, research, or clinical experience in cardiopulmonary disorders, neurological disorders, and/or pathology
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify and solve problems
  • Contemporary, evidence-based clinical practice knowledge in cardiopulmonary, neurological, and/or acute care practice areas
  • Experience designing and conducting independent or collaborative research in the area of clinical expertise
  • Physical therapy license or license eligibility in Arkansas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced (non-clinical) Doctorate
  • Established scholarly agenda
  • Three (3) years of prior teaching experience in a physical therapy academic program
  • Active involvement in professional activities at the local, state, or national level

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and teach academic courses in areas of content expertise
  • Engage in scholarly and service activities consistent with university, college, and CAPTE expectations
  • Contribute to program and curriculum assessment and planning
  • May perform duties as assigned

  • Research equipment includes Noraxon wireless motion analysis, Neurocom Balance Master, Cosmed CPET Metabolic Testing System, AlterG Anti-gravity Treadmill, and more.
  • Collaborative research opportunities with UAMS Northwest, UAMS Little Rock, and the nearby University of Arkansas.
