Position Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Physical Therapy

Position Type: Full-Time; 12-month; hybrid-remote

Augustana University seeks applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. Our accelerated two-year DPT program is a dynamic blend of online and on-campus activities, allowing faculty members to reside remotely from Augustana University. However, DPT faculty members must be able to travel and stay in Sioux Falls, SD, or the greater Minneapolis, MN area for designated periods each trimester. 

Successful candidates will have clinical experience in at least one of the following practice areas: Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy, Primary Care PT, Pain Management and be able to teach in Therapeutic Interventions and/or Physical Therapy Fundamentals. Candidates with teaching experience (particularly in hybrid education), higher education leadership, established research and scholarship agendas, records of community service, and a spirit of innovation to explore new teaching strategies in hybrid learning are preferred. The position may commence as soon as May 1, 2026.

Optimal candidates should understand higher education and contemporary physical therapy practice; legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy; and activity in professional activities at local, state, and national levels. In addition, excellent communication and strong computer skills are required to meet the needs of our online didactic instructional format.

At a minimum, individuals must possess a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (or tDPT), with American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) or certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities.  Candidates with completed or significant progress toward a terminal academic doctorate degree in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities (Ph.D., EdD, DSc, etc.) are preferred. Positions are non-tenure track with salary and rank commensurate with qualifications. The candidates must possess an active physical therapy license in their home state and be eligible for licensure in the states of South Dakota and Minnesota.
