Title: Exploring Stakeholder Perspectives on the Value of Physical Therapy Residency Education in Healthcare Organizations

Description: 

The purpose of this mixed-methods study is to examine stakeholder perspectives on the value of residency education, including physical therapists who are serving as faculty employed within academic or clinical healthcare organizations. Specific aims are to identify perceived benefits, barriers, and facilitators influencing the advancement of residency education across health systems and to determine how stakeholder perceptions align with workforce development and patient care priorities.

Inclusion criteria: Physical therapists who serve in any of the following roles:

  • Faculty or clinical mentors who teach within an accredited residency program
  • Physical therapists who serve as clinical administrators and provide direct input into the development, implementation, or oversight of a residency program
  • Physical therapy faculty that teach in a DPT program or employed within a clinic or healthcare organization that currently does not have an established residency program.
