Position Description: The School of Health Professions at Long Island University seeks a licensed physical therapist with prior academic and administrative experience, an established scholarly record, and familiarity with accreditation standards to provide leadership for its newly developed DPT program which is housed on LIU’s historic, 330-acre Brookville campus. The preferred candidate will be qualified to hold senior faculty rank and have strengths in faculty development and mentorship.

Principal responsibilities of this position:

· Work with Program Manager to oversee daily operations of the DPT program;

· Seek and maintain programmatic accreditation with CAPTE;

· Develop and teach selected courses in residential DPT program;

· Mentor entry-level DPT students and core faculty;

· Generate peer-reviewed scholarship and seek extramural funding to support research;

· Participate in appointed administrative and service activities;

· Engage in strategic planning for future program development;

· Participate in student recruitment and admissions process;

· Implement practices that enhance student retention and maintain high academic standards;

· Solicit funding to support program development, endowments, and scholarships;

· Collect and analyze data needed to assess program outcomes for institutional and accreditation reports.

Qualifications that apply to ALL applicants:

· Unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in the State of New York (or eligibility to seek licensure in NY);

· An earned academic doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DSc, EdD);

· At least six (6) years of full-time experience in higher education and at least three (3) years of full-time experience in an entry-level physical therapist education program;

· Familiarity with CAPTE accreditation standards and process;

· Evidence of effective teaching, scholarship, and leadership;

· Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
