Assistant / Associate Professor of Physical Therapy -Moravian University
POSITION SUMMARY:
Twelve-month, full time, tenure-track or clinical faculty Assistant or Associate professor position. Primary teaching will occur in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) curriculum. Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise in the area of anatomy, physiology, acute and/or cardiopulmonary care. However, candidates who hold board specialty certifications, other than orthopedics, will also be considered. The majority of teaching will be in-person, on-campus. Additional responsibilities include mentoring graduate research, maintaining a scholarly agenda, and actively engaging in School, College, and University-level service.
Start date is negotiable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach in the DPT program.
- Teach in undergraduate Health Science major (only as needed).
- Course development (as needed).
- Coordination of curriculum in the individual’s area(s) of expertise.
- Maintain an active scholarship agenda.
- Graduate student advising.
- Service to the DPT program, School, College, University, profession and community.
- Demonstrate and promote inclusive practices to support diverse learners in a way that contributes to student success and promotes equity in opportunities for achievement.
- Faculty in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences and the College of Health are expected to collaborate in team-teaching within the program(s), participate in interprofessional education across the School and College, and assist in all aspects of program design, development, implementation, assessment, and administration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Pennsylvania license or eligible for PA licensure as physical therapist.
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree required.
- Contemporary expertise in acute care or cardiopulmonary care preferred. Also accepting expertise in anatomy, physiology, or board certification in other physical therapy specialties (other than orthopedics and sports). [Contemporary expertise per Commission on Accreditation in PT Education (CAPTE; standard 4D) may be evidenced by board certification as a clinical specialist, post-professional academic work, residency, fellowship, continuing education, scholarship, etc.]
- Earned research doctorate (e.g. PhD, EdD, DSc, DHS) preferred.
- Evidence of successful teaching experience at the college level preferred.
- Evidence of an established scholarly agenda preferred.
- Commitment to inclusion in higher education.

The School of Rehabilitation Sciences houses an undergraduate programs in Public Health (BS & BA), Health Sciences (BS), graduate programs in Athletic Training (MSAT & DAT), Occupational Therapy (MSOT & PP-OTD), Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP & SLPD) and Physical Therapy (DPT). The vision for the School is to develop collaborative, interprofessional programs within a single academic unit.
