Northern Arizona University’s Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training seeks a visionary educator to join our Hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program as a full-time core faculty member. As a pioneer in competency and entrustment-based education, NAU’s hybrid DPT program stands at the forefront of redefining physical therapy pedagogy. Our innovative model prepares graduates to excel in dynamic healthcare environments.
Our hybrid DPT program represents a paradigm shift in physical therapy education. Designed around a fully implemented competency and entrustment-based curriculum, the program emphasizes using immersive clinical scenarios to integrate musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiopulmonary care, to prepare graduates for evolving practice models. The hybrid DPT program thrives on a culture of mutual support and intellectual curiosity.


Preferences
We seek candidates who embody the following attributes:


Clinical expertise:  

Candidates with demonstrated expertise in musculoskeletal and neuromuscular rehabilitation, complemented by a comprehensive understanding of physiological systems to advance the profession’s leadership in primary care and population health initiatives are preferred.
Educational innovation: Commitment to developing competency-based educational frameworks is expected, with preference given to candidates experienced in designing hybrid or online learning environments


Scholarly commitment:

Willingness to engage in a scholarly agenda aligned with personal academic interests and programmatic goals, contributing to the advancement of physical therapy education through research, publication, and professional discourse. 


Clinical education leadership:

Documented success in coordinating or supervising clinical education experiences, with insight into bridging academic and practice settings.
