Title: Exploring knowledge, comfort and implementation readiness of the Master Adaptive Learner Framework in Doctor of Physical Therapy faculty: a mixed methods study
Ideal participant: Ages 18-89 years old and currently employed as faculty (Program Director or Chair, Director of Clinical Education, Core full time faculty, Core part time faculty, Associate faculty, Adjunct faculty) in a CAPTE accredited DPT program
Description: There has been a call within Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) education to develop adaptive learners that are ready to meet the demands of a rapidly changing healthcare environment. The Master Adaptive Learner (MAL) framework has been proposed as a framework to achieve this and has received much attention. This has led to a call to action to implement the MAL framework into DPT education. Currently, little is known about the implementation and utilization of the framework beyond a conceptual model. This study will explore the levels of knowledge, perceived comfort and implementation readiness regarding the MAL framework within DPT programs and faculty. Additionally, barriers and facilitators of the framework will be explored. A mixed methods design utilizing both survey and recorded interview responses will be used.
