JOB SUMMARY:
Florida Southern College (FSC) invites applications for the position of Director of Clinical Education (DCE) in the School of Physical Therapy. This is a 12-month tenure-earning position at the assistant or associate rank, to begin immediately, in the CAPTE-accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program located at FSC in Lakeland, Florida. The DCE collaborates closely with the Assistant Director of Clinical Education (ADCE) to oversee the design, coordination, implementation, and assessment of the clinical education curriculum. In addition to administrative and leadership responsibilities related to clinical education, the DCE is expected to teach within the DPT curriculum, with preference given to candidates who can contribute to acute care–related coursework.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will possess the leadership, managerial, organizational, and communication skills necessary to lead the clinical education component of the curriculum. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing strategic leadership and oversight of the clinical education program in compliance with all CAPTE standards
  • Collaborating with and supervising the
  • Developing, implementing, and refining clinical education policies and procedures
  • Cultivating, maintaining, and expanding strong clinical site partnerships
  • Coordinating student clinical placements and monitoring student performance and progression in clinical educatio
  •  Ensuring effective communication and collaboration among students, clinical faculty, academic faculty, dean/program director, and staff
  • Participating in program assessment, accreditation activities, and continuous quality improvement
  • Teaching in the DPT curriculum as assigned, with preference for instruction in acute care or related practice areas
  • Engaging in service, scholarship, and teaching activities consistent with the program and college

Research activities are expected to meet CAPTE scholarship requirements and demonstrate evidence-based inquiry related to physical therapy or the candidate’s area of expertise.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess an entry-level physical therapy degree from a CAPTE-accredited institution
  • Hold a DPT degree from a regionally-accredited institution and/or an advanced doctoral degree (preferred)
  • Have a current license to practice as a PT in any
  • Have a minimum of three years full-time (or equivalent)
  • Have a minimum of two years of clinical practice as a site coordinator of clinical education (
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach effectively in a DPT curriculum; experience in acute care practice and/or instruction is preferred
